Journal of The Rotary Club of Lake Buena Vista
                                                         July 2018

                                   From Club President Greg Gorski

Thank you Eduardo Fernandez for serving as President of the Lake Buena
Vista Rotary Club for the 2017/2018 Rotary year. Your theme was “be your
best self”, which you role modeled all year. Your leadership enabled the
Club members to do just that. A few examples of your influence included the
Club, lead by Augustine, Jean and Jeff, receiving the Ray Maxwell Award

at Relay for Life. New members and seasoned members getting engaged by
attending over a dozen RLI classes. The Club, lead by Karuna, closing out a
Global Grant to save 22 lives in India. Lastly, encouraging a Golf Committee
to try new things this year which enabled the Club to raise more funds than
budgeted for the Foundation. Your leadership was the perfect balance of
influence, persuasion, compassion and fun. (And yes, we will always remember where the safety exits are in our
meeting room.) Eddie, you are the most interesting Rotary President in the world!!

Now we turn the page to 2018/2019. I am fresh off attending my first Rotary Convention in Toronto. It was an
amazing experience being amongst 25,000 Rotarians from around the Globe. It was actually inspiring. Which
leads me to sharing our Rotary theme as determined by our Rotary International President Barry Rassin for
2018/2019, “Be The Inspiration” in the world, your community and your family. Barry’s message is to put
significant effort into our Rotaract Clubs, since that is where the future of Rotary exists. Continue to fund the
eradication of Polio since the battle is not won just yet. Supply all of Haiti with the infrastructure and systems
for clean water by 2030. This compliments the goals of our Board, which is to inspire our greater Orlando
community by engaging in more service projects this year, evaluating the health of our Rotoract Club at Rosen

College of Hospitality and supporting our RYE students. There are more goals that will be shared and discussed
        later in July.

I want to thank the Board and the Committee Chairs for their enthusiasm heading into the 2018/19 year.
This year’s Board has a different look to it than year’s past with new members stepping up to take on new
responsibilities and experienced members tackling different areas than they have been accustomed. I believe this
balance will be of great benefit to the Club. I am grateful for the opportunity to serve this Club for the next year.

I hope to inspire the Club, as much as the Club inspires me, to be the inspiration in our community. Enjoy the
July 4th holiday week with your family and friends!

        Inspire someone today,

        Greg
