From Club President Marti Trieschmann
Dear Lake Buena Vista Rotarians,
We just finished a very exciting month in March with the Rotary
International President, Gary C. K. Huang’s visit which we have
been told will be highlighted in the May issue of The Rotarian, be
sure to check it out, as it is an honor to host a sitting Rotary
International President where our club meets.
As part of your membership in the Rotary Club of Lake Buena
Vista, and all Rotarians worldwide, each person receives as part
of their dues, a subscription to The Rotarian. The magazine is produced for $1 per person…when
comparing this to other subscriptions, for magazines, you cannot argue that the content of the
magazine is fantastic!
Established in 1911, The Rotarian, the official magazine of Rotary International, shows how Rotary is
addressing issues in areas such as disease prevention, maternal and child health, literacy, peace and
conflict resolution, economic development, and clean water. The Rotarian challenges readers to
become more involved in service to their neighborhoods and to the global community. Eighteen Nobel
Prize winners and 22 Pulitzer Prize winners have appeared in our pages, including Mahatma Gandhi,
Desmond Tutu, Pearl S. Buck, Scott Turow, Carol Guzy, and Kurt Vonnegut Jr.
My favorite part of the magazine is the “World Roundup” that showcases Rotary news in brief from
around the world. This is a quick reminder that we are all connected to a truly global organization.
You can also sign up for the digital version which is easy to read and every magazine is archived at
www.rotary.org.
In addition to The Rotarian, I would be remiss if I did not mention our very own Gears and Ears. We
are so fortunate that we have this e-magazine to remind us with photos from the past month, highlight
upcoming events, showcase our members and their businesses, and let’s not forget our recipe and
book review! The current month and all past issues are at www.rotarylbv.org.
I hope you enjoy these publications that are available to you, and you use April to take a second look, I
am sure you will find something you missed.
YIRS,
Marti Trieschmann, President
